Thokozani, who will take over as the Communications Fellow, is a native Malawian. She holds a BA in English, Media and Writing from the University of Cape Town. During her studies, she worked with the Educational Development Center on an Interactive Radio Instruction program to create educational radio programs that engaged primary school children across the country. While working as a manager in the hospitality industry, Thokozani founded Maid of Malawi, a training initiative that empowers economically disadvantaged women by teaching them employable domestic skills and basic English. Thokozani was also a member of the Rural Women’s Assembly, which encourages linkages/exchanges between Southern Africa and South America to strengthen rural women’s movements. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and outdoor activities.
Nancy is the new Fundraising Fellow Nancy our new Fundraising Fellow, is a native of Austin, Texas. Previously she worked as the Director of Operations for Circle of Health International, where she led a Middle Eastern delegation of healthcare professionals that provided health services to refugees in Jordan and Israel. She also volunteered with Human Rights Watch, where she researched and documented human rights abuses in West Africa, studied abroad in Northern Uganda and Senegal, and conducted research on post-conflict speech and media in Rwanda. Nancy holds a BA in international affairs from George Washington University. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, reading, and eating queso at her favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in Austin.
